Salmonella was detected from 54 out of 385 samples of animal feed ingredients(14.0%) of 344 samples of fish meal, 46(13.4%) were positive for Salmonella. Meat and bone meal was positive in 8(38.1%) of 21 samples. No Salmonella were isolated from any of 10 samples of imported fish meal. No Salmonella were isolated from feather meal, defatted tallow meal, and poultry by-products meal. As a result, a total of 58 strains of Salmonella were isolated and belonged to 7 serotypes. These serotypes were S.typhimurium, S.stanley, S.cerro, S.senftenberg, S.berta, S.drypool, and S.bredney.
