A survey on bovine mastitis in the dairy cattle in Cheju City and Bukcheju County was carried out for a total of 1,731 quarters of 443 heads using the California Mastitis Test in the field. The trials for the isolation of the etiological agents and for the sensitivity tests for antibiotics were also carried out. The overall infection rate was recognized as high as 87.5% in farms, 36.6% in individual cows and 16.7% in quarters. However the rate was regarded as low comparing that in mainland Korea, and the control methodology was discussed.
