Detection of antibiotic residues in pork and poultry

Antibiotic residues of domestic pork and poultry were tested by EEC 4-plate method to improve and monitoring the quality of meats. The test method was evaluated also to determine the usefulness in meat inspection. Antimicrobial substances were not detected from 177 swine muscle and 90 chicken muscle tissues and kidney, but chloramphenicol was detected from 2 samples(3.16 and 0.91ppm) out of 177 swine kidney samples. EEC 4-plate test method was very useful to categorize the species of the anti-bacterial substances.
