A study to observe the fine structures of the zygotes of Eimeria tenella artificially inoculated in the specific pathogen free(SPF) chickens was carried out by means of the transmission electron microscope(TEM) in the laboratory. The infected chickens showed mild diarrhoea at the Day 3 post inioculation and merozoites with bloody diarrhoea at the Day 5. The levels of oocysts in the fecal samples at the Day 6 measured as 179,000 per ml. and showed 88.6% of sporulation rate at 28C within 72 hours. It is noticed that the mature zygotes posses two types of layer in the wall, outer one and inner one, and they are formed by the wall-forming bodies type Ⅰand type Ⅱ, respectively. The wall-forming bodies type I present a compact structure, while, the type Ⅱ presents a granular forms in the structure. Various types of amylopectin granules, mitochondria and lipid bodies found in the zygote body and it is regarded that the organelles are related to the nutrition and metabolism of the zygote.
