To investigate the epidemiological trait of listeriosis, L. monocytogenes and other Listeria spp. were isolated from bulk milk, meat and animal faecal specimens. Tatal 187 strains isolated were examined for biochemical properties and L. monocytogenes were serotyped. In a total of 194 samples including bulk milk, commercial beef, chicken meat and animal faeces, Listeria spp. were isolated from cicken meat(100%), beef(93.6%), bulk milk(22.6%) and animal faeces(1.0%). Listeria spp. were present in 34.5% (67 samples) and isolation rates by listerial speceis were in order of incidence of L. innocua(40.6%), L. monocytogenes(3.0%) and L. grayi(1.2%). Overall, L. monocytogenes were isolated from 4 samples in beef and 1 sample in bulk milk. Of 5 L. monocytogenes strains, 4 strains were serotype 1 and 4, and 1 strain was untypable.
