An infection of Aujeszky’s disease virus was investigated and identified from a pig farm located in Yongin-county, Kyunggi-province. The characteristics of the out-breaks were high mortality of suckling piglets, nervous signs of growing pigs and abortion of pregnant sows. A series of investigations were made the isolation of etiological virus, the properties of isolated virus, serological identification and antibody test of sows by ELISA (enzyme linked immunosorbent assay). 1. In pig farm occured ADV infection, several clinical symptoms were showed diarrhea, dehydration and high mortality of suckling pigs, excessive salivation, vomiting and nervous signs of growing pigs, abortion, still-born and mummified foetuses of pregnant sows. Congestion of the meninges and excess of cerebrospinal fluid were found in the brain. 2. An ADV was isolated from kidney and spleen of piglet in YK pig farm. 3. Isolated ADV was excellently propagated in RK-13, BGK cell line and CEF cell as well as sensitive to chloroform. 4. In the inoculation of ADV to rabbit and mice, intensive pruritus and high pathogenicity were showed with nervous signs. 5. The isolated virus was identified with ADV by serological examination used reference strain and hyperimmune sera. 6. Sows of YK pig farm had the antibody to ADV detected by ELISA.
