Rabies control program in new jersey

1977년부터 미국 New Jersey주 야생동물 광견병이 유행되었던바 다음과 같은 예방대책을 수립하였다. 1. 야생동물 광견병 발생 상황에 대한 동물검사. 2. 애완견이나 고양이의 등록 및 광견병 예방 주사 실시. 3. 동물에 물린 사람이나 애완 동물에 대해 보건소에 보고하여 동물을 검역. 4. 동물을 취급하는 사람에 대한 광견병 예방주사. 5. 주민과 학생들에 대한 보건교육 실시. 6. 야생 동물에 대한 광견병 oral vaccine에 대한 야외 실험 실시.

Terrestrial animal rabies was recently diagnosed in New jersey in October 1989. The epizootic is spreading in all directions and it is predicted that the entire state of New Jersey will be affected by this outbreak. In order to stop the epizootic and to prevent an outbreak of rabies in humans and domestic animals, rabies control program has been initiated at state and local levels. The program includes rabies monitoring, pet licensing and vaccination, animal bite reporting and quarantine, preexposure immunization and health education.
