The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of acute fever induced by E. coli endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) on the kinetics of animal drugs. LPS was administrated SC with the dose of 2.5 or 7.5mg/kg for the induction of fever and 15mg/kg of oxytetracycline (OTC) was given IM to the rats had been treated with LPS (2.5mg/kg) or not. Body temperature (B.T) was increased from about 30 minutes and peaked (1.73~2.20℃ increment) at about 6 hours after the administration of LPS. This increase of B.T lasted for more than 30 hours. Concentrations of OTC in serum, muscle, liver and kidney of the group of concomitant administration of LPS and OTC were higher than those of the group of single administration of OTC and the half lives of OTC in tissues were longer in the co-treated group. However, the relative tissue concentrations of the co-treated group were lower compared with those of the group of single administration of OTC.
