Mercury residues in tissues of slaughter cattle

Mercury residues in liver, kidney, cardiac muscle, leg muscle and hair of slaught animals, Korean cattle and Holstein dairy cattle, of Incheon and Gyŏngi region were much lower than 300 ppb reported as safety level in foreign country. The highest concentration of mercury were found in the kidney, followed by liver, cardiac muscle and leg muscle. Mercury residues in liver and renal tissues of Korean cattle of 4~5 years old showed the tendency of the higher concentration than those of young cattle of 2 years old. Mercury residues in cardiac muscle and leg muscle were much lower than those of all other tested tissues, and those in hair were the same or high, compared with those of renal tissues.
