Current situation of food borne viral diseases and its Importance : a review

Foodborne viral disease can be devided two major citeria. One group like Norwalk virus and Hepatitis virus cause viral food poisoning via contaminated foods. The viral food poisoning, in the point view of public health, requires the proper attention as well as epidemiological approach to prevent a massive gastroenteritis in this country. Second, Animal viruses like Swine vesicular disease or Foot and mouth disease can be introduced into disease-free countries through international trades of contaminated food and food product. The increasing trend of free trade will necessitate the urgent need for monitoring system against high risk viral contamination on importing food and related product in near future. The problems and current issues on food borne viruses were also discussed.
