The mutagenicity of ramaria botrytis extract

Ramaria botrytis(RB) has been used for the past years as a seasonal food in Korea, not been reported yet. This study was performed to investigated whether Ramaria botrytis water extract has anti- or mutagenicity by Ames test. According to the result of cytotoxicity assay, the optimum concentration of Ramaria botrytis water extract for mutagenicity were below 20mg /plate. we experimented the mutagenicity with- or without S9 mixture, rat liver microsomal enzyme. Bacterial strains were used Salmonella typhimurium histidine auxotroph, TA 98, 100, 1535 and 1537. RB extract enhanced the mutageniticity of several mutagens for TA 908, 100 and 1535 strains and also inhibited the mutagenicity of benzopyrene for the 98 strain and AFBI, AF and NQNO for TA 1535 strain. 20mg per plate of RB extract showed the mutagenicity with S9 mixture.
