Serological Observation on Bovine Brucellosis in Cheju

A serological survey was performed to provide details about the pattern of bovine brucellosis occurance in Cheju area. Bovine sera collected from Cheju City and Buckcheju Gun were examined by Rose bengal plate test for screening. And then positive or indeterminated sera were examined by complement fixation test for confirmation. ELISA also was applied for reference. In 1994, 70 cases out of 48,909 sera were seropositive(0.14%). Positive rates were differently appeared by region. But This occurence was localized only limited rural farm. Incidence of bovine brucellosis was not related by breed. Occurence of bovine brucellosis was limited only 2 years old or more, and appeared to be strongly associated with female.
