Studies on Mitochondrial Activities Following Chronic Mercury Treatment in Korean Black Goats II. Effect of Organic Mercury Compound

3 groups of fourth 4 month old male Korean black goats were used in this study. 1st group fed pellet type for growing goats, and 2nd 3rd groups fed diets which cotained 1 ppm and 5 ppm mercury added as methylmercuric chloride into normal feeds, respectively. Body weight gains, mercury contents in blood and hair, and chemical values in blood were determined in each group monthly during experiment period of 5 months. Mercury resdiues were measured in internal tissues after 5 month and the effects on mitochondrial activities in heart, liver, kidney and skeletal muscle were studied. Body weight gains were no differences among 3 groups. PCV was not affected by the ration which contained 1ppm of mercury as methylmercuric chloride and decreased in 4 to 5 month of group fed 5 ppm mercury containing feeds.
