Cabotage is the transport of goods and passengers between two points in the same country by a national-flag ship and the law applies to merchant ships in most countries for protection of their domestic business, security, and safety. This rule also affects the global cruise tourism in ways of designing cruise itineraries and limiting passengers rights in choosing their cruise holidays. Some ports of call with a great access to a homeport and tourist attractions may be given a golden opportunity to boost their cruise tourism business due to the policy. This research, therefore, examined the impact of Cabotage rule on the global cruise industry in several aspects and tried to demonstrate how the currently popular itineraries in each cruise region have been positioned by explaining each nation s policy. Cabotage may sometimes seem to discourage the potential growth of a country s maritime tourism and the Big cruise operators have called on its revision and even abolishment in many open discussions with reasons. In this regard discussions concerning the topic were followed.
