The purpose of this study is to determine the relationships among emotional labor, job satisfaction and job stress and analyze the mediating effects of job satisfaction among makeup artists. For this a survey was performed among 202 makeup artists in Seoul and Gyeonggido, and the results found the following: First, in terms of the relationships among emotional labor, job satisfaction and job stress, emotional labor had a negative effect on job satisfaction but positive influence on job stress. In contrast job satisfaction showed a negative effect on job stress. Second, according to analysis of the mediating effects of job satisfaction vis a the effects of emotional labor on job stress, which verifies the existence of partial mediating effects. In addition, there should be legal grounds that help makeup artists get mental care through professional psychological counseling. Emotional labor issues most occur in treating ‘heated customers’. Therefore makeup salons need to have a systematic customer management and response plan for ill-mannered customers. Therefore, measures are needed to improve job satisfaction
