우리말 고유어 생명종식어의 죽음 앞에서의 태도 실현 양상 연구

A Study on the Aspects of the Lexical Realization of the Four Attitudes fronting Death in the Native Korean Language

이 연구는 우리말 고유어 생명종식어가 필리프 아리에스(1975)의 네 가지 죽음 앞에서의 태도와 관련하여 어떤 양상을 보이는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이 연구에서 밝혀진 내용을 정리하면 첫째, 전통적인 ‘우리의 죽음’은 ‘안방에서의 죽음’이라는 전형적인 틀(frame)을 갖는다. 둘째, 고유어 생명종식어 낱말밭에는 ‘죽다’, ‘숨지다’, ‘궂기다’, ‘뒈지다’, ‘두벌죽음하다’, ‘떼죽음하다’, ‘가다’, ‘돌아가다’, ‘떨어지다’, ‘사라지다’ 등의 자동사와 ‘여의다’; ‘잃다’, ‘마치다’, ‘앞서다’ 등의 타동사로 이뤄진다. 셋째, 고유어 생명종식어의 죽음 앞에서의 태도 실현 양상을 살펴보면 ‘우리의 죽음’과 관련된 어휘가 가장 많았으며 그 뒤를 이어 ‘타인의 죽음’, ‘금기시된 죽음’, ‘자기의 죽음’ 순이었다. 넷째, 자동사 생명종식어는 죽음 앞에서의 태도에서 ‘우리의 죽음’과, 타동사 생명종식어는 ‘타인의 죽음’과 밀접하게 관련되었다. 다섯째, 우리말 자동사 생명종식어는 수평, 수직, 방사형, 원형의 방향성을 갖는다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the aspects of the death related words of Korean language, with the Four Attitudes fronting the Death by Philipp Ariès(1975). First, the traditional ‘our death’ has a typical frame of ‘death in the room’. Second, in the lexical field of the native Korean words, there are many words presenting the death like following words: ‘죽다’, ‘숨지다’, ‘궂기다’, ‘뒈지다’, ‘두벌죽음하다’, ‘떼죽음하다’, ‘가다’, ‘돌아가다’, ‘떨어지다’, ‘사라지다’, ‘여의다’; ‘잃다’, ‘마치다’, ‘앞서다’ and etc. Third, considering the attitude realization of mentioned death related verbs, ‘our death’ words are presented the most, followed by ‘death of others’, ‘tabooed death’, ‘death of oneself’. Fourth, the intransitive verbs related to death are closely related to ‘our death’ in the Attitude before Death and the transitive verbs related to ‘death of others’. Fifth, Death related intransitive verbs have horizontal, vertical, radial and circular directionality.
