A case of Mycobacterium tuberculosis is reported in a 4-year-old mixed breed dog. Grossly, the mesenteric and tracheobrachial lymph nodes were markedly enlarged and grayish yellow and moderately firm on cut sections. The abdominal cavity contained a large amount of cloudy straw-colored fluid. The liver was swollen and contained numerous miliary tan foci. Histological examination of the affected parenchymal organs showed severe multifocal to coalescing granulomatous inflammation. Ziehl-Neelson’s stain of the lymph nodes, liver and spleen revealed myriads of acid-fast bacilli. M. tuberculosis was isolated from the mesenteric lymph nodes. The diagnosis of M. tuberculosis in this dog was made based on the results of histopathology, acid-fast stain and bacteriology. This case is interesting and important in public health aspect that the owner of this dog was a tuberculosis patient.
