The study aimed to see the effect of Penac-T on body weight gain, rate of carcass yield, grade, and feed conversion of landrace pig. To do this, productivity of nitric oxide(NO) and immunity augmentation of Penac-T were observed in mouse macrophage-derived cell line. Also growth of vascular smooth muscle cell was examined in the experiment of smooth muscle contraction of blood vessel. Those experiments were focused to see the drug resistance effect of Penac-T, and to analyze the growth mechanism by which Penac-T would promote body weight increment of domestic animal. Those result are as follows. A group was raised with Penac-T in feed and control group with Bambermycin plus Olakwydox. The growth effect, daily weight gain, dressing percentage and feed conversion were compared between two groups. The Penac-T group showed to some extent highter effects in the above criteria and had significantly more pigs with grade A and B carcass yield than the control group(p<0.05). The result indicated that the usage of Penac-T as a potential feed additive may help to produce safe pork without antibiotics and hormone. To investigate the mechanism of productivity promotion, macrophage-derived cell line(Raw 264.7) was treated with Penac-T and No productivity was observed. NO production was started at the concentration of 5㎛/ml of Penac-T and the peak was shown at the concentration of 50㎛/ml(p<0.01). Nearly no inhibition activity to cell growth was observed. To see whether to promote growth of cell, vascular smooth muscle cell(VSMS) were treated for 24 hours with various concentration of Penac-T. The effect of cell growth rate showed peaks at the concentration of 2.5 and 5.0㎛/ml(p<0.05). When observing the effect of Penac-T, small amount of NO was released for a long time, thereby had an effect on immune cell without great damages to neighbor cells. These results suggested that Penac-T is effective in producing disease resistance pigs.
