The present work was conducted to investigate the drug susceptibility of dermatophytes isolated from various animal sources. A total of 26 strains of dermatophytes, of which 20 cultures of Trichophyton(T) mentagrophytes were isolated from rat(14 strains), rabbit(3 strains), sea lion(1 strain) and human(2 strains), 3 strains of Microsporum(M) gypseum from dog, and 3 straing of T. equinum from horses, were used for the study. The drug susceptibility was investigated by the microdilution method using 11 antifungal drugs including amphoterincin B(A), nystatin(N), griseofulvin(G), pimaricin(P), haloprogin(H), bifonazole(B), clotrimazole(C), miconazole(M), ketoconazole(K), econazole(E) and tolnaftate(T). All isolates of T. mentagrophytes were highly suscetible to T, E, C and M(geometric mean MICs ≤0.04~0.21㎍/ml). Three isolates of T. mentagrophytes from rabbits were more susceptible to K, E, B and M(geometric mean MICs ≤0.03~0.06㎍/ml) than other cultures of T. mentagrophytes. M. gypseum were highly susceptible to C, K and T(geometric mean MICs ≤0.05~0.18㎍/ml), while T. equinum were highly susceptible to M, B and C(geometric mean MICs ≤0.03~0.06㎍/ml). All isolates were resistant to P and N(geometric mean MICs 4~≥14.42㎍/ml and 10.91~16.00 USPunit/ml).
