교육비평으로 분석한 영화 “빌리 엘리어트”의 스포츠 리터러시

Analyzing Sports Literacy in “Billy Elliot” by Educational Criticism

본 연구는 영화 “빌리 엘리어트” 속의 스포츠 리터러시를 교육비평(Eisner, 2001)을 통해 밝혀내었다. 연구방법은 내용분석을 기초로 교육적 감식안의 영역을 스포츠리터러시(Phil, 2010)의 영역에 적용하여 2018년 3∼4월 약 2개월간 교육비평을 구현하는 일곱 단계의 절차를 거쳤다. 연구결과로 구현된 교육비평에서는 페다고지, 춤에 대한 도전과 열정, 지역사회의 문화에 대한 스포츠 리터러시의 세 가지 주제가 도출되었다. 첫째, ‘학생과 공감하는 페다고지’ 주제에서는 학생의 삶 속에 들어가서 학 생을 이해하되 이해를 바탕으로 하여 전략적인 차별화로 목표에 도달하는 교사의 모습이 드러났다. 둘째, ‘몸의 움직임과 표현에 대한 도전과 열정’ 주제는 몸으로 스스로의 감정과 내면을 움직임으로 나타내는 춤의 교육적 가치를 드러내었다. 셋째, ‘지 역사회 문화와 젠더 이슈’ 주제에서는 발레와 복싱을 둘러싼 지역사회의 문화와 전통적인 성 고정관념을 밝혀내었다. 마지막으로, 보편적인 성장이라는 교육적 가치에 더해 체육교육에서의 인문학적 모색을 추구하는 스포츠 리터러시를 통해 진로 의사 결정 교육, 체육 이론수업의 적용, 체육 수업의 교과 통합적 접근에 대해 논의하였다.

The objective of this study was figure out sports literacy in the movie, “Billy Elliot” by educational criticism. Content analysis in educational criticism was employed in the study. In findings, empathy with students in pedagogy, challenge and passion for body expression and community culture with gender issue were categorized as the themes of educational criticism. Teacher’s characterized strategy for the audition was completed by deep understanding about student’s life. The value of dance education in terms of positive impact on students’ mature was argued in the study. It is necessary to rethink local community culture in perspective of gender discrimination in sports education. We suggested that sports literacy could implement teaching career related decision-making, making a syllabus of PE’s theoretical classes, and integrating physical education with other subjects such as social studies, arts, and history.
