누리과정 교사용 지도서의 과학 관련 활동 및 목표와 미국의 차세대과학표준에서의 관련 항목 비교

Comparative Study of Science Activities in Nuri Curriculum of Korea and NGSS of the United StatesThe Status

본 연구는 2013년에 발행된 국가 수준의 ‘누리과정 교사용 지도서’내의 과학 관련활동과 미국의 유아 과학교육과정을 비교 분석하여 과학 관련 활동의 특성을 찾았다. 분석 대상은 3-5세 누리과정 교사용 지도서 10권, 4세 누리과정 지도서 11권, 5세 누 리과정 지도서 11에 제시된 총 2,166개 활동들 중에서 1,106개의 과학 관련 활동 및 활동에 명시된 목표들이다. 미국의 비교 분석 대상은 2012년에 발표된 차세대과학기준에서 유아교육 과정의 ‘핵심아이디어’와 ‘과학 및 공학의 실천’으로 하였다. 분석결 과, 과학 관련 활동 모두 각 생활 주제에 고르게 핵심 아이디어가 나타나지 않고, 특정 핵심 아이디어에 편중되어 있었다. 특히 ‘동식물과 자연’, ‘환경과 생활’, ‘봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울’ 생활 주제와 관련된 활동은 핵심아이디어로 ‘지구계’와 ‘지구와 인간의 활동’에 편중되어 나타났다. 과학 관련 활동 목표의 경우, ‘자료의 분석과 해석’의 과학·공학적 실천에 해당하고, 자연탐구영역 내용 범주 내 ‘생명체와 자연환경 알아보기’에 해당하는 활동 목표가 주를 이루는 것을 볼 수 있었다. 다음으로는 ‘정보의 습득·평가·교류’에 해당하는 활동 목표가 많이 나타났다. 연령이 증가할수록 활동 목표에 다양한 과학·공학적 실천을 담고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the activities and activities aims using by ‘Guide for Educational Activities & Materials for Kindergarten (GEAMK)’ for 3-5 year old Nuri Curriculum of Korea and corresponding items in the ‘Next Generation State Standards (NGSS)’ of the US. Among the 2,166 activities presented in the GEAMK, 1,106 science-related activities were analyzed. As a result of the research, all of the science-related activities of 3-5 year-olds did not show the core idea evenly on each life topic, and the specific core idea was biased. In particular, activities related to life topics such as ‘flora and fauna and nature’, ‘environment and life’, and ‘spring, summer, autumn and winter’ appeared concentrated on core ideas ‘Earth’ and ‘Earth and human activities’. In the case of 3-5 year-old science-related activity aims, we will see that the activities corresponding to the ‘analyzing and interpreting data’ correspond to the science and engineering practice and correspond to the ‘explore life and nature environment’ within the scope of nature inquiry area. Next, there were many activity aims corresponding to ‘obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information’. As age increases, various scientific and engineering practices are increasing.
