수학적 모델링 기반 수업이 중학교 1학년 학생들의 수학적 문제제기 능력에 미치는 영향

The effects of mathematical modeling based instruction on mathematical problem-posing ability of first-year middle school students

본 연구에서는 선행연구 결과를 토대로 수학적 모델링 기반 교수·학습 자료를 개발 및 적용하여 수학적 모델링 기반 수업이 중학교 1학년 학생들의 수학적 문제제기 능력에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 알아보았다. 수학적 문제제기 능력 사전검사 결과를 바탕으로 동질성이 높은 두 집단을 선택하여 무작위로 한 집단은 실험집단으로, 나머지 집단은 비교집단으로 설정하여 연구를 수행하였다. 실험처치는 함수 단원과 관련된 수학 시간을 활용하여 10차시 동안 수행되었는데, 실험집단은 연구자가 고안한 수학적 모델링 기반 교수·학습 자료를 활용하여 수업이 이루어졌고, 비교집단은 교사 중심의 설명식 방법으로 수업이 이루어졌다. 10차시의 수업 후 각 집단에게 수학적 문제제기 능력 사후 검사를 실시하여 분석한 결과에 의하면, 두 집단 간 문제제기의 인지과정 유형별(선택하기, 변환하기, 이해하기, 편집하기) 수행능력 측면과 정교성 측면에서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었지만, 복잡성 및 독창성 측면에서는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이는 나타나지 않았다. 이로부터 수학적 모델링 기반 수업은 교사 중심의 설명식 수업에 비해 중학생들의 문제제기 수행능력과 정교성 측면에서 문제제기 능력 함양에 보다 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다.

In this paper, we developed and applied mathematical modeling based teaching and learning materials based on previous research, and to examine how mathematical modeling classes affect students’ ability of mathematical problem-posing in the first year of middle school. Mathematical problem-posing ability based on the results of the pre-test, two groups with high homogeneity were selected and mathematical modeling based instructions corresponding to the ten classes were given to students in the experimental group over three weeks. The results show that there are significant differences between the experimental group participating in the mathematical modeling based instruction and the comparison group performing the traditional instruction of the ability to perform mathematical problem-posing of according to the cognitive process type(selecting, translating, comprehending, editing) and on the elaboration of the mathematical problem-posing of students in the post problem questionnaire. Thus mathematical modeling based instruction provided in this study were effective in improving on the elaboration of the mathematical problem-posing of students.
