강원도 구석기연구 최근 10년(2008-2017)의 성과와 전망

The retrospect and prospect of the studies of Palaeolithic Culture in Gangwon Province

이 글에서는 강원지역에서 최근 10년(2008-2017)동안 어느 정도의 연구 성과가 쌓였으며, 앞으로 어떠한 방향에서 연구를 진전시켜가는 것이 바람직할 것인가에 대해 살펴보았다. 그동안 강원도에서는 동해 월소, 강릉 내곡동, 춘천 금산리 갈둔, 속초 청호동, 철원 상사리, 원주 신평리, 인제 부평리 등 구석기시대 이른 시기와 늦은 시기를 대표할 수 있는 중요한 유적들이 발굴조사 되었다. 연구자들의 관심을 받게 되는 이러한 중요 유적들의 출현을 계기로 새로운 경향의 다양한 연구가 촉발될 수 있다. 지난 10년간 강원지역에서는 유적의 입지와 고환경, 지질고고학적 분석, 흑요석의 산지추정, 북한강, 남한강, 홍천강 등 지역단위 연구, 편년, 주요석기(쐐기형석기, 화살촉, 밀개 등) 분석, 석기의 사용흔 분석, 7편의 학위논문 등 다양한 주제의 연구 가 진행되었다. 장차 강원지역에서 이루어진 발굴 성과를 토대로 사용흔 분석을 통한 석기의 기능, 흑요석 돌감 분석을 통한 교역 교환, 유적의 기능 등 연구 주제가 더욱 다양화되는 방향 전환의 중요한 계기가 되길 기대해본다.

This paper attempts to survey the achievements of new excavations in the recent decade in Gangwon province, and consider the recent studies of Paleolithic culture in that region. For the last 10 years, Many paleolithic sites were excavated and surveyed in Gangwon province which include Weolso in in Donghae, Naegok-dong in Gangneung, Geumsanri Galdoon in Chunchon, Cheongho-dong in Sokcho, Sangsa-ri in Cheolwon, Sinpyeong-ri in Wonju, Bupyeong-ri in Inje. The emergence of these important sites in the interest of researchers could spark various studies of new trend. In perspective of doing desirable Paleolithic research we should know that the current trend. Over the past decade, a variety of studies have been conducted in Gangwon province, including chronological framework, usewear analysis of stone tool, typological-technical analysis of important tools, provenance study of obsidian, geological distribution, regional comparative study, paleo-environment of sites, joint geoarcheological research with scientist, and publication of doctoral thesis. In particular, usewear analysis are relevant to the function of stone tools. and provenance study of obsidian is linked to exchange, trade. There are several points to be tackled as future research directions in Gangwon province. For example, more systematic and synthetic research on lithic industry, difference between the coastal and inland sites, joint study with the Quaternary geoarchaeologist for the analysis of paleo-environment, comparative researches on lithic industry of adjacent region, excavation of cave site, the preservation and application of paleolithic sites etc. were brought to light. Based on the considerable improvement in Gangwon province, various studies of new trends will be conducted.
