‘계명산천’의 새벽

Dawn of Korea - Focusing on Park Tae-wons Ｈistorical Ｎovels in North Korea

본고는 박태원의 역사소설 「계명산천은 밝아오느냐」해방 이후 작가의 전기적 사실과 서사적 특징을 중심으로 분석하였다. 박태원 역사소설에 관한 연구는 「갑오농민전쟁」을 중심으로 진행되어 왔다. 그러나 1960년대 중반 급속히 악화된 작가의 건강 문제와 북한 문예정책의 변화를 생각할 때, 미완으로 끝난 「계명산천은 밝아오느냐」는 박태원 문학의 집대성이라 할 수 있다. 박태원 문학의 집대성적 성격은 발표된 시기만이 아니라 서사적 측면에서도 확인된다. 본고에서는 특히 초점화자의 다양성과 공간 재현 방식, 고전 작품의 삽입과 그 변용 등 세 가지 관점에 주목하였다.

The aim of this paper is to consider Park Tae-won s historical novel Is the Dawn Comin g？ through its narrative features and his life in North Korea. Park Tae-won was well known as a modernist, translater, and historical novelist. After defecting to North Korea, he was remenbered as a historical novelist and Gapoh Peasant War have been highly regarded in North Korean modern literature. But following to his health problem and change of North Korean s literary policy in 1960s, Is the Dawn Coming？ should be regarded a collection of his literary world. This paper focused on diversity of focalizers, reproduction of space and quoted texts.
