월경의 욕망, 상실된 조국

재일조선인은 경계 위의 존재들이다. 그들은 전후( 戰後 ) 일본사회, 그리고 분단 체제하 남/북한사회에서 포섭되면서 동시에 배제되는 대상이다. 그들은 일본과 한국, 북한이라는 국민국가(=민족국가) 체제의 실정성을 강화하는 장치로서 호명된다. 하지만 재일조선인들은 그 어디에서도 민족적 정체성을 확립하지 못하고 유동적인 상태에 놓여 있다. 그래서 그들은 그러한 유동적 상태에 놓인 불안 의식을 극복하기 위해 ‘조국’ 관념을 가지고 월경의 욕망을 강화한다. 그들에게 상상된 조국은 ‘자기’를 확인하는 한편, 재일조선인 사회를 결속하게 하는 동력으로 작동한다. 그런데 귀국사업을 통해 조국 북한으로 이동하는 과정 속에서 재일조선인들은 실재로서의 북한과 조우하는 한편, 자신들의 상상된 조국을 상실하게 된다. 전후 일본사회에서 재일조선인으로서 차별과 억압의 대상이었던 그들이 스스로의 제한적·폐쇄적 위상을 극복할 수 있을 것이라는 욕망을 증폭시켰던 조국은 또 다른 차별과 억압의 공간이었던 셈이다. 이러한 재일조선인들의 조국 관념의 상실은 유토피아로서의 장소상실로 이어진다.

Korean residents in Japan are those on the border. The country, which amplified the desire that it would be able to overcome its limited and closed status as the subject of discrimination and oppression in the postwar Japanese society, was another space for discrimination and oppression. The loss of the idea of a motherland of K orean residents in Japan is connected the placelessness as a utopia.
