스마트폰 이용 동기에 따른 중학생의 성지식, 성태도, 성행동의 차이 분석

An Analysis of Differences in Middle School Student’s Sexual Knowledge, Attitude, and Behavior Based on Smart Phone Usage Motivation

본 연구의 목적은 중학생의 스마트폰 이용 동기에 따른 성지식, 성태도, 성행동의 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 S시에 소재한 중학교 세 곳의 중학생 1,037명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 우선, 스마트폰 이용 동기에 따라 성지식은 정보추구형이 다른 유형(유행추구형, 관계추구형, 매체추구형)과 비교하여 유의하게 높았다. 정보획득을 위한 수단으로 스마트폰을 사용하는 중학생이 성지식과 관련하여 스마트폰을 순기능적으로 사용하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 다음으로, 성태도는 유행 추구형이 다른 유형과 비교하여 유의하게 낮았다. 이는 스마트폰 사용과 관련하여 유행에 민감하고 과시하고자 하는 욕구를 가진 중학생이 성에 대해 더 개방적이고 허용적이라는 것을 의미한다. 마지막으로, 성행동에서는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았는데, 이는 중학생 시기가 성행동을 직접적으로 드러내놓고 하는 시기가 아니기 때문 이라 판단된다. 이 연구는 스마트폰이 중학생들 사이에서 없어서는 안 될 생활의 필수품이 된 현실을 고려할 때, 중학생의 스마트폰 이용 동기에 따른 성지식, 성태도, 성행동의 차이를 밝힘으로써, 기존의 획일화된 성교육에서 탈피하여 향후, 스마트폰 이용 동기에 따른 차별적인 성교육과 성상담을 위한 근거 자료를 제공했다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

This research is to investigate whether the usage motivation for smartphone makes difference in teenage sexual knowledge, attitude, and behavior. For investigation, we had 1,037 middle school participants to conduct survey on from 11th October 2017 to 21st May 2018. Resulting from the study showed there were significant disparity between smartphone usage types. information pursuit, trend pursuit, relation pursuit, media pursuit, which affected the sexual knowledge of the teenagers. Middle school students categorized as media pursuit type were resolving their inquiries on sex via smartphone, showing high understanding in the area. In terms of sex education, this group is viewed positively when it comes to smartphone usage. Trend pursuit type, secondly, differed from other groups sexual attitude wise. Middle school students who are strongly concerned with gaining popularity and showing themselves off, had open perspective to sex and streotypes about gender roles. Sexual behavioral differences, thirdly, appeared indistinct, leading to the assumption that it was due to the age group being not prone to having either indirect or direct sexual behavior. This research clarified the diverse smartphone usage motivation types and how it affects certain age group’s sexual knowledge, attitude, and behavior. It steers the way for standardized sex education be reformed to customized one regarding the differences among groups.
