Continuing to support free trade in the Asia Pacific is a challenging prospect in these volatile political and economically sluggish times. A discussion of key top significant risks for small-medium sized A have already peaked and begun contracting, and discuss the impact of both a leadership shift to the east and the rise in populism and related free market antipathy in the West. A wide suggests their increasing assertiveness and broadening ambitions may be constrained by how successful they are in transforming to a demandplace at the table of international geopolitical diplomacy. Under this kind of pressure, APEC leaders may feel the pull to resort to protectionist measures and abandon gains achieved through bilateral and multilateral agreements. Worse, they may neglect to pursue the st social realities, a danger for fast members to stay political extremism and stabilize the economic outlook via a specific coalition of ‘li minded’ mid-size democratic member states. Such a ‘club’ may reassert the need for and commitment to global trade in these uncertain times.
