초등학생의 친척 인지 및 가족 개념에 관한 연구

The Study on the Kinship Cognition and Family Concepts of Elementary School Children

가족은 사회의 변화에 따라 함께 변모한다. 특히, 현대 우리나라의 가족은 형태뿐만 아니라 의미 측면에서도 세분화되어 가족 개념에 대한 새로운 이해가 필요해지고 있다. 현대 사회의 가족 변화에 따라 실제로 초등학생이 가족 개념을 어떻게 이해하고 있는지를 살피는 것은 매우 중요한 교육적 영역이며, 기본 교육으로서의 초등교육의 매우 중요한 과제이다. 따라서 본 연구는 초등학교 5∼6학년 학생을 대상으로 설문조사를 통해 친척 인지 및 가족 개념에 대한 실태를 분석하는데 목적을 두고 2018년 6월 14일 설문지를 발송하여 27일 회수하였다. 분석 결과, 초등학생의 가족개념은 ‘서로 도우며 사랑을 나누는 사람’이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 이는 기존의 선행연구에 비해 확장된 가족개념이다. 친족어 인지는 할아버지, 할머니, 외할아버지, 외할머니가 다른 친척보다 월등히 높았으나, 실제 친척의 이름을 알고 있는 비율은 이모를 제외하고 대부분 50%를 넘지 못했다. 또한, 친척 인지 및 가족 개념은 학생의 가족 특성 배경에 따라 차이가 있었다.

Families change as the society changes. Not only the formation of modern Korean family but also the meaning of it is now being more specified, requiring new perspective on concepts of family. Most of all, it is very important to notice how elementary school children understand about the change of formation of family because it tells the importance of the educational field and is also the significant task of the elementary education. Thus, this research is to analyze the concepts of ‘family’ or ‘kinship’ regarding on a survey responded by 12, 13-year-old elementary schoolchildren. We delivered the surveys on June, 14th, 2018 and collected them on 27th. Analysis showed the highest record from the elementary school children was that they considered family as ‘loving and helping each other’, which is the expanded concepts of family than the previous research. The words of ‘paternal grandpa’, ‘paternal grandma’, ‘maternal grandpa’, ‘maternal grandma’ were called more than it of kinship, but most of the actual names of them were remembered by merely half of the children except for their aunt. Also, the research showed the difference of what the students think familyis and the recognition of their kinship depending on their family background.
