마음반 유아들이 놀이 속에서 구성한 수학·윤리적 경험에 관한 탐색

An Exploratory Study on Mathematical-Ethical Experiences Constructed in Play by the Children in Maeumban

본 연구는 수학·인성교육의 마중물로서 유아가 놀이 속에서 구성하는 수학·윤리적 경험을 들여다보고 그 의미를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 D시 하나유치원 만5세 마음반 유아 28명을 대상으로 2015년 3월~4월 관찰 및 사전연구, 9월 1일~10일 예비연구를 거쳐 9월 15일부터 12월 4일까지 유아의 관계적 삶이 잘 드러나는 게임을 중심으로 관찰하였다. 자료로는 비디오 녹화 전사본과 연구자 및 교사저널, 교사와의 협의록, 유아 인공물을 활용하였다. 수집된 자료는 주의 깊게 반복적 읽기를 하면서 의미를 이해하고 재분류하는 과정을 반복하였다. 연구결과, 마음반 유아들은 승부의 세계에 갇혀 내 마음대로 놀이하기, 몸의 울림에 귀 기울이고 조율하며 놀이하기, 보살핌의 관계에서 놀이를 해체하고 창조하기를 경험하고 있었다. 이러한 유아들의 경험은 ‘자기중심적 문제해결에서 공유적 삶의 문제해결로 나아가기’ 그리고 ‘삶의 성찰을 통한 윤리적 수학자 되어가기’의 의미를 갖고 있었다. 이와 같은 유아들 의 수학·윤리적 경험을 통해 유아들은 관계적 만남 속에서 수(數)와 수학을 ‘공유적 삶의 언어’로 구성해 가고 있었으며 성찰을 통해 스스로의 삶을 구성해 나가는 ‘임파워먼트를 지닌 존재’라는 것을 발견할 수 있었다.

This Study aims to examine mathematical-ethical experiences which preschoolers construct during play and explore the meaning as priming water of mathematical and character education. To do this, 28 five-year-olds in Maeumban (Class Maeum) at Hana Kindergarten in D city, were observed from September to December in 2015 mainly in games that well represent the children’s relational life. As materials, video transcripts, researcher and teacher’s journal, record of discussion with teachers, and artifact for children were used. Collected materials were carefully read to understand the meaning and regrouped and the process was repeated. The result of the research revealed that children in Maeumban had experiences such as; playing as they like in competition, playing as listening to vibration of the body and tuning, deconstructing and creating plays in a caring relationship. Such experiences can be understood as a “process of moving from self-centered problem solving to solving problems of a shared life” and also a “process of becoming an ethical mathematician through reflection about life.” To sum up, it was found that children construct the number and mathematics as a “language of shared lives” in a relational encounter through mathematical-ethical experiences and are “self-empowered” beings who construct their lives through reflection.
