특수교육철학의 필요성과 나딩스 교육사상의 통합교육적 함의

The necessity of philosophy on special education and implications of inclusive education on Noddings’ educational thought.

본 연구는 특수교육철학의 필요성을 제기하고, 나딩스의 교육사상에서 특수교육적 요소를 도출하여 통합교육에 대한 구체적인 하나의 담론을 제시하는 데에 목적을 두고 진행되었다. 연구자는 이를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 첫째, 특수교육철학 연구의 활성화가 필요하다. 특수교육의 규모가 급격히 증대되어 특수교육철학의 역할이 더욱 중요한 시기임에도 불구하고, 특수교육철학 연구는 사실상 부재 상황에 가깝다. 둘째, 특수교육철학의 가장 시급한 부문은 통합교육이며, 이에 대한 새로운 접근이 필요하다. 일반교사들은 통합교육에 대해 특수교육적 접근이 아닌 일반교육적 접근을 함으로써 통합교육을 효과적으로 운용할 수 있다. 셋째, 나딩스의 교육사상은 통합교육적 함의가 있다. 나딩스의 교육목적론과 모델링, 실천, 확언의 교육방법은 통합교육을 난해한 것으로 여기는 일반교사들이 통합교육을 시작할 수 있는 단초가 될 수 있을 것이다.

This paper examines philosophical implications of Nel Noddings on inclusive education. It aims to crystallize a concrete argument of inclusive education as an example of what it means to approach special education philosophically, i.e. philosophy of special education. First, philosophy of special education needs a particular attention in educational practice and research. The paper argues that we live in a decisive period where philosophical understanding of special education is significant to create the integrated society. Second, inclusive education is one of the urgent issues in philosophy of special education. It is common to take the matters of inclusion in ways of special education. This paper, however, suggests an effective way for teachers to engage with inclusion through the understanding of non󰠏special education. Third, educational thoughts of Noddings show some implications on inclusive education. In particular, this paper argues that inclusive education shares some ideas of Noddings on the aims of education and teaching methods such as modeling, practice, confirmation. The findings of this study suggest concrete ways for teachers in general to practice inclusive education. This study attempts to show a philosophical approach to special education in analysis of inclusive education with Noddings.
