The aim of this paper is to explore the relation of intention and translation in the literary text. Then, to find out the texts’ reflecting the author s intention properly, this paper analyzes the style as distinctive way of translation in Deborah Smith’s The Vegetarian, Janet by partially comparing Hong’s Excerpt from The Vegetarian. Translation in the literary text requires the ability to lighten the symbolic meaning and nuances of the language we translate into in grasping the intention. This study reveals that unlike Hong who is faithful to literal translating, Smith added the words not in the original to be loyal to context and to be more cohesive. Her such interventions are intended to be creative in interpreting of the original writer’s intention to make the readers of targer text sympathize the echo of original work. Therefore, translator ought to use language considerately to create the many literary effects, esthetic tension, great and creative expression, rhythm, and emotion in translating the contents and forms of the style.
