Effects of Nostalgia and Inducing Factors on Film Evaluation

영화는 시간을 재현하는 경험재로, 소비자는 영화가 재현한 시간을 공유함으로써, 영화가 주는 감정적 효과를 경험하고 이를 통해 영화를 평가한다. 특히 과거 시간의 재현은 소비자가 직·간접적으로 경험한 시간으로, 이것은 소비자가 느끼는 현재의 불안감을 회복시키고 자신의 가치를 향상시키는 노스탤지어 효과를 유발할 수 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 영화의 노스탤지어 효과로써 카타르시스 반응과 영화가 제시한 스토리와 나와의 연결성을 제시하였다. 그리고 과거 시간을 재현한 영화의 노스탤지어 효과를 탐색하고, 그 유도요인을 식별하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 카타르시스 반응은 영화의 긍정평가에 영향을 준다. 그런데 영화가 제시한 스토리와 나와의 연결성은 영화에 대한 긍정평가에는 영향을 주지 않고, 카타르시스 반응에는 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 캐릭터 매력성과 캐릭터 진정성은 카타르시스 반응에 영향을 주며, 캐릭터 행동과 나의 가치 양립성과 갈등상황의 유사성은 영화가 제시한 스토리와 나와의 연결성에 영향을 주는 것으로 식별되었다. 마지막으로 과거 시간 재현에서 중요한 물리적 요소의 리얼리티 표현성의 경우 카타르시스 반응에 영향을 주지 않지만 영화에 대한 긍정평가에 영향을 주는 것으로 탐색되었다.

Nostalgia is an emotional desire for the past. It can remind them of the ideal memories they have experienced in the past, making them feel relaxed. However most marketing researches focus on the emotional effects of nostalgia, dealing mainly with advertisements and expanding lately into the sectors of store and brand management. Particularly, even though the film that reproduce the past time usually succeed in the box office, the research about it is rarely performed. Thus what this research concerns most is to study the effects of nostalgia which affects the affirmative evaluation of film, and to suggest the factors that can induce such effects. The outcomes from the empirical analysis could be summed up as follows: First, response of catharsis affects positive evaluation of film and connectedness between me and the story of a film affects positive response of catharsis, but connectedness between me and the story of a film can not affect positive evaluation of film. Second, character attractiveness and character authenticity have also positive influence upon response of catharsis. And compatibility of my character and view of value and similarity of conflict situations exercise a positive impact upon connectedness between me and the story of a film. Lastly, realistic expression of physical elements do not affect response of catharsis positively, but realistic expression of physical elements have positive influence upon positive evaluation of film.
