A Study on the Development of Microwave Thawing Machine for Frozen Food Distrbution

This paper proposes and describes a process for developing thawing machines that candefrost frozen foods generally used in households and distributed by franchisers. By incorporating the general household frequency range of 2.45GHz instead of the industrial frequency range of 915MHz, the cost of the associated product parts can be reduced. In order to determine the performance efficiency, the developed thawing machine was employed for defrosting frozen food items such as pork and pollack for a period of six to eight minutes, and subsequently the food items were uniformly thawed at a desired temperature deviation range of (-2 ± 2 °C) Consequently, minimal loss of food’s moisture content occurred and no significant effect on the meat taste could be found.
