An Assessment of the Application of Korea’s Electronic Customs Clearance Performance

This study examines the performance of customs clearance for computerization and suggests the following recommendations: First, the substructure of the e-customs clearance system, which is the basis for the establishment of a global single window, should be developed as an advanced system to secure stability and reliability for the systematic management of information resources. Second, the reputation of Korea’s e-customs clearance system should be improved by strengthening the international cooperative system between concerned parties including exporters and importers. Third, customized services should be provided to improve the operating efficiency of the e-customs clearance system. As shown above, it appears that a variety of innovations of Korea’s e-customs clearance will be required to overcome the problems that currently hinder the development of a smooth customs clearance system.
