폐목재를 활용한 업사이클 디자인 개발

Developed Upcycled Design for Waste Wood

본 연구의 목적은 폐목재를 활용한 업사이클 디자인 개발을 통해 폐목재에 대한 가능성을 재조명하고, 국내 목재산업의 지속가능한 발전과 업사이클 디자인의 활성화를 도모하는데 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 업사이클 디자인과 폐목재에 대한 고찰 및 다양한 사례를 분석하여 폐목재를 활용한 업사이클 디자인 제품 총 16점을 제작하였다. 이에 따른 연구결과를 종합하면 다음과 같다. 폐목재의 크기, 형태의 제한적 요소를 에폭시를 활용해 보완하였으며, 미적, 상업적 효과를 높이고자 색상을 추가하여 적용하였다. 이를 통해 폐목재가 가진 재료의 한계를 보완하고 예술적 가치를 부여하여 국내 시장에 업사이클 디자인을 활성화시키는데 의의가 있다. 또한 경쟁력 있는 상품으로 목재시장의 차별화를 이끌어냄으로써 국산 목재산업의 지속가능한 발전이 이루어지기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this research is to re-light the possibility of waste timber through development of up-cycle design utilizing waste timber, to achieve sustainable development of the domestic timber industry and revitalize up-cycle design. Therefore, in this research, 16 points of up cycle design products using waste timber were produced by analyzing up cycle design, waste timber consideration and various cases. The main results are summarized as follows. We applied epoxy to supplement the limiting factors of the size and shape of the waste wood and added color to enhance aesthetic and commercial effects. This has the significance of complementing the limitations of materials of waste wood and conferring artistic value, making domestic market effective up cycle design. Also, we hope to lead the differentiation of timber market with competitive products, sustainable development of domestically produced wood industry.
