키렌 이건의 상상력 교육에서의 비고츠키 이론에 대한 비판적 성찰

A Critical Reflection on Vygotsky s theory in Kieran Egan s Learning in Depth Program

This study attempts to examine the relationship between Vygotsky’s theory and Kieran Egan’s ‘Learning in Depth’. Egan’s theory of imaginative education is said to be based on Vygotsky’s idea. Thus, by comparing them, we can see their similarities and their differences. Like Vygotsky’s theory of imagination, that of Egan also emphasizes the importance of the experience and of the emotion in the development of the imagination. Also, a close analogy exists between the LiD of Egan and true concept of Vygotsky. However, there are some incompatible aspects between Vygotsky’s theory and that of Egan: with regard to the abstract thinking, while the one considers the abstract thinking impossible in children, the other considers it possible in children; with regard to the language, while the language is understood in the cognitive context by the one, the bodily and emotional elements of the language as well as those of oral language are stressed by the other.
