In order to derive Pragmatic philosophy of education s role, I researched Dewey s book which suggested “role of philosophy” from the viewpoint of Pragmatic point as chronologically analyzed during early, middle and late works. As a result, I derived ‘criticism’, ‘interpretation’, ‘solution and reform’, ‘pursuit of better life and growth’ as role of philosophy. By applying these concept to education, first, the criticism of education policy and criticism of old habit. This will lead to education in a more advanced direction than it is now. Second, interpretation and clarification of educational research results. Third, it have to provide principles of educational problem solving, social reform and culture creation. Because philosophy of education is deal with the ‘value’ rather than ‘truth’. Fourth, the pursuit of beauty and the artistic development of educational experience. This could serve as a bridge between education and life.
