외국인을 위한 한국어 교재에 나타난 속담 유형 분석

Analysis of Proverbs in Korean Textbooks for Foreigners

이 연구는 타당성이 확보된 서울대학교와 연세대학교, 고려대학교의 한국어 교재 중, 중·고급에 해당하는 교재 9권을 분석 자료로 삼았다. 9권의 한국어 교재 속에 나타난 ‘한국 속담’내용을 탐색하고 이를 통해 각 대학의 속담 교육 내용의 특성과 교재속 속담 출현빈도를 탐색하고자 함이 이 연구의 목적이다. 외국인을 위한 한국어 교재 속 ‘한국 속담’ 탐색을 통해 얻은 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국어 교재의 지은이는 개인이 아닌 ‘대학의 교육기관’이었다. 그로 인해 둘째, 대학 교육기관의 특성에 따라 속담 교육 내용의 교육적 특성 또한 조금씩 다르게 나타남이 확인되었다. 셋째, 각대학의 한국어 교재 속 ‘한국 속담’ 출현빈도는 대학별 또는 교재마다 제각각이었다. 넷째, 전체 9권의 교재에서 나타난 103개의 속담 중 2번 이상 중복 출현한 속담의 빈도는 10개 중 3개인 것으로 확인되었다. 다섯째, 2번 이상 중복 출현된 속담 내용의 범주화를 통해 분석한 결과를 살펴보면, ‘개인’보다는 ‘사회’, 그리고 사회 안에서의 ‘행위’와 관련된 속담이 주를 이루는 것으로 확인되었다. 이 결과 내용을 토대로 속담 중복 출현빈도가 높은 이유에 대해 탐색해 볼 필요성이 대두되었다.

This study selected nine intermediate and advanced-level Korean language textbooks published by confirmed Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korean University. The purpose of this study is to explore Korean proverbs presented in the above nine Korean language textbooks and see the characteristics of educational contents on proverbs provided by each school and the frequency of appearing proverbs. Results from the exploration of Korean proverbs in these textbooks are as follows. First, educational institutions at universities were authors of Korean language textbooks. Thus, secondly, it showed that educational characteristics of education on Korean proverbs slightly varied according to the feature of university educational institutions. Third, the frequency of appearing Korean proverbs in Korean language textbook published by each university varied according to schools or textbooks. Fourth, the frequency of more than twice overlapped proverbs among 103 proverbs presented in all the nine textbooks was three of ten. Fifth, the categorization of more than twice overlapped proverbs revealed that proverbs more associated with society and behavior in the society than individuals constituted these textbooks. Based on these results, review on the Korean proverb education and proposing educational alternatives are required.
