노인 상담가들의 공감유형

Empathy Types of the Experienced Elderly Counselors

본 연구는 노인 상담가들이 상담 중 어떻게 공감하는지 그 유형을 살피는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 5년 이상의 노인상담경험자 총 10명의 노인상담자를 선정하였으며 심층 면접을 통한 인터뷰 자료와 질문지를 통하여 상담과정에서 사용하는 주요 공감표현을 적도록 하였고, 사용과 표현의 일치를 확인하기 위하여 전사된 축어록 형태의 상담수퍼비전자료를 2차 자료를 수집․확인하였다. 연구결과, 노인상담가의 노인 내담자 공감 유형은 4가지로 나타났다. ‘인지적 이해형’, ‘질문형 공감형’, ‘무조건적 수용형’, ‘구원자 연민형’의 4가지 유형으로 분류되었고, 무조건적 수용형, 질문형 공감형, 인지적 이해형, 구원자 연민형 순서로 나타났다. 노인상담자의 노인내담자 공감에 대한 서로 다른 특성의 이해와 유형별 특성에 따라 상담과정과 결과에 영향을 미쳤다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로 노인상담자 교육 및 훈련 프로그램 개발과 활용을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the empathy types of the experienced elderly counselors. The subjects of this study were 10 counseling cases by experienced counselors. The data obtained through the depth interview and the transcribed resources for supervisions were analysed using a qualitative method. In this study, 4 empathy types of elderly counselors were identified. “focused on apprehending elderly client’s cognition”,“focused on the questions for empathy”,“focused on unconditioned positive regard”,“focused on the sympathy in savers’heart.”The empathy types of the eldelrly counselors influenced on the results and process of the elderly counselings. The implications of the results were discussed in terms of elderly counselor training and supervision.
