아카데믹 어드바이징 프로그램 모델 연구

A Study on Academic Advising Program with Reference to Anyang University

오늘날 대학은 과거와는 다른 환경에 처해 있다. 정보통신 혁명, 새로운 대학 입학 전형제도, 대학신입생의 감소 등 대학은 대내외적으로 다양한 도전 과제에 봉착해 있다. 따라서 대학은 학생들의 대학생활 적응, 전공 및 진로개발 및 자기계발을 지원 하고 견인하는 전문적인 학사제도를 구축해야 할 것이다. 아카데믹 어드바이징은 학생들이 장기적인 시각에서 학업과 진로 계획을 세울 수 있도록 돕고, 교과목 관련 이수 방법, 진로 탐색, 취업 준비, 대학생활 전반 등에 심층 상담 및 성적 향상, 학습 설 계 등에 대한 학생 일대일 맞춤형 학사지도를 수행하는 학사지도를 일컫는다. 이와 같은 인식아래 본 연구는 국내외 대학교의 아카데믹 어드바이징제도의 연구를 바탕으로, 안양대학교가 2018년 1학기에 도입한 아카데믹 어드바이징 제도를 소개하고, 운영현황 및 개선방안에 대해 사례중심으로 논의하였다. 안양대학교의 아카데믹 어드바이징 제도의 특징은 학생밀착형 어드바이징, 학생 참여형 어드바이징을 특징으로 한다. 이 연구는 향후 국내 대학이 학생 중심의 아카데믹 어드바이징 제도를 구축 하는데 있어서 큰 역할을 할 것으로 기대한다.

Academic Advising has always been a critical and challenging issue in higher education institutions. This is becoming even more important nowadays as universities are making their best efforts to boost their enrollment and improve their retention. Against this backdrop, this study was aimed to design an all-out and hollistic academic advising program for Anyang University. This study bases itself on the assumption that academic advising should guide, engage and support students in achieving their goals, both educational and career-wise, through academic planning and career development. Anyang University academic advising program, 1-credit requirement course for first-year students, is made up of five modules to help them better adapt to college and plan for their career. The five modules are Orientation, Making Better Use of College Resources, Designing University Life, Developing Self-awareness, and Career-planning, respectively. The newly initiated academic advising program is expected to help students attain their academic and educational goals effectively.
