‘미술교육에서 불편한 진실과 마주하기’를 통한 자기 성찰적 고찰

Self-reflection Study through ‘Confrontation with uncomfortable Truths in Art Education’

본 연구는 연구자의 경험적 토대에 근거하여 미술교육에서 마주하는 세 가지의 불편한 진실을 제기하고 그에 대한 견해를 밝힘으로써 성찰의 계기를 마련하는데 목적이 있다. 불편한 진실은 첫째, 발상법을 통해 창의적 사고력이 신장되는가, 둘째, 표현 위주(중심)의 교육은 지양되어야하는가, 셋째, 교과서와 지도서는 언제까지 변화되어야하는가이다. 이에 대한 견해로서, 첫째, 창의성은 학생 개인별 새로움에 대한 도전과 기다림, 지속된 숙달의 과정에서 바라볼 필요가 있다. 둘째, 표현은 미적체험과 감상 모두를 포괄하는 총체적 의미를 가질 때 그 지평을 넓힐 수 있다. 셋째, 교과서와 지도서는 열린 교재로서 교사의 활용성에 크게 의존한다. 이와 같은 견해에 따른 결론으로, 첫째, 우리는 익숙해져 있는 모습과 생각, 태도에서 벗어나 새로운 관점으로 미술교육을 바라볼 필요가 있다. 둘째, 학생들에게 필요한 것은 그들만의 시간만큼 기다려주는 일이다. 셋째, 미술교육의 변화는 교사의 노력으로부터 비롯된다. 다양한 경험적 고찰을 통해 교육현장을 들여다보고 좋은 변화를 모색해볼 수 있는 연구가 늘어나길 기대해본다.

Based on the empirical foundation of the researcher, the purpose of the study is to raise the three uncomfortable truths facing art education and to provide an opportunity for reflection by clarifying the opinion on them. The uncomfortable truths are as follows. First, do creative thinking skills grow through imagination methods? Second, should expression-based education be avoided? Third, how long should textbooks and tutorials be changed? In view of this, first, creativity is a challenge for newness of each student, and it is necessary to look at the process of waiting and continuing mastery. Second, expression can broaden its horizons when it has a overall meaning that encompasses both aesthetic experience and appreciation. Third, textbooks and tutorials are largely dependent on the availability of teachers as open textbooks. As a result of this view, first, we need to look at art education from a new point of view, away from the familiar way of thinking and attitude. Second, we need to wait for each student’s time. Third, the changes in art education originate from teachers efforts. I hope to see more research that can look into the educational field and look for good change through various empirical considerations.
