This paper seeks to locate Imna by reexamining the previous studies on the location of Imna, which is the starting point in solving the Imnailbonbu problem, the most critical issue in Korea-Japan ancient history. In Ilbonseogi(Nihon shoki) Imna is used to designate the whole Kaya, and this only reflects a historical perception of Ilbonseogi. In the Epitaph of King Kwanggaeto or Chinese histories, however, Imna was used to designate a certain country in Kaya. There are a number of interpretations in locating Imna in Kaya. The most prevailing view designates Imna as southern Kaya and Kara as northern Kaya or Imna as Kimhae Kumguan Kaya and Kara as Koryung Tae-Kaya. The theory suggested Jinkyungdaesabimoon (The Epitaph of Saint Jinkyung) as the major evidence, but it proved groundless.
