In this study, the structural redundancy of old reinforced concrete bridge was analyzed using a method from the National Cooperative Highway Research (NCHRP) Program Report 406. Structural redundancy evaluation was performed by fracture simulation using an incremental method until the point of bridge collapse. Existing bridge safety assessments are based on structural calculations, and can be reviewed with respect to a flexible range of limits allowable by design standards. Structural redundancy evaluation analyzes the cracking, and usability of a bridge, which are not considered under existing safety assessments. The result of this study shows that structural redundancy evaluation allows the evaluator to assess the safety of bridges by assuming a damage scenario taking into consideration the current bridge condition.
