Diagnosis on Multi-culturalism of Local Government and Recommendation for Improvement on Policy - Focused on Citizens Awareness of Gyeonggi-do -

Multi-culturalization has been spreading out throughout the whole society. To effectively cope with the phenomenon of multi-culturalization, it is necessary for the local governments to set up multi-culturization policies which reflect regional characteristics. This report was to propose ideas to improve multi-cultural policies of local governments in order to achieve a sound and stable multi-cultural society. For this purpose, an extensive survey of Citizen s Sense of Multiculturalism in Gyeonggi-province, a representative province of metropolitan area in Korea, was conducted and the local governments recognition of Multiculturalism was analyzed through the recognition analysis. On the base of the analysis result about the multi-cultural sense of local citizens, recommendations to improve multi-cultural policies in local governments were proposed on the aspect of multi-cultural sense, multi-cultural policy and establishment of infra-structure for multi-cultural society.
