It it more than timely as well as important that the study on the topic is to be undertaken since local executive officers elected by the public are being given an enormous authorities and various roles as representing the public, and therefore they are considered as a critical factor that have a significant impact on the region concerned. The study aims to examine a research hypothesis that elected local executive officer may affect the regional economic development and growth by using a positive analytic method, and thus proposes a practical implication relating to the selection or election of local executive officers based upon the analyses. In the sense, the study examines the types and importance of elected local executive officers and then selects the impact factors for developing a regional economy by adopting a growth model of regional economy. According to a positive analysis, the impact levels of regional economic development were shown to be differed depending upon the types of elected local executive officers. In particular, the administrator type of local executive officers appeared to have a more critical impact on the regional economic development compared with politician, business manager, or specialist types of officers. It is thus necessary to consider electing the administrator type of local executive officers in case where the public is to determine who they delegate their authorities.
