A Study on the Examination and Establishment of Role of Head of Local Government

This study aims to research concretely on the effect of a pattern of their performance related to Competence of Local Government. Dominant types of rolei of mayors are politician type, administrative type, 없ld manager type. In case of mayors of local governments, all of 3 types of role shows important roles related to the capacity of local autonomy. The final results are as follows; First, the major preference of deputy heads of local governments, public officials and citizens on the role type of heads of local governments shows no differences. Second, there are major differences among types of role of heads of local governments related to the capacity on local autonomy. Third, there is a difference in the type of role of heads of lower-level local! governments among city, county and district. However, despite the limitation, this study is very useful to set the desirable types of role, which will contribute to the development of distinctive local government based on the perception of each individual who is part of society having a goal. In the future, the limitation can be overcome when the study is! continuously pursued to develop the desirable types of role.
