Experimental Study of the Effect of Solar Cell Array Temperature on PV System Performance

Currently, an important task in the field of clean energy is to leave the global environment free of air pollution for future generations. Developed countries around the world have been making extensive effort to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide. PV systems have the potential to provide infinitely clean energy, which will also contribute to the fight against global warming. The depletion of the energy of the Sun is not a concern. Solar energy is, therefore, easier to maintain than other renewable energy sources. Solar energy represents an infinite and clean energy source; however, the weaknesses of technique for using solar energy lie in the fact that power generation changes according to the season and climate. Consequently, this study examined the effect of the temperature of solar array on a PV system as temperature is one of factors affecting thee solar energy conversion efficiency. The purpose of this study was to consider the installation method for solar arrays in order to decrease the temperature of the array, as power generation is reduced when the temperature of the array rises.
