The surface of lake water has a wide range of temperature variation from 5℃ to 30℃, while the lower parts maintain a temperature of about 5℃ throughout the year. Thus, , energy for air-conditioning during summer can be obtained from the lower parts of the lake water so as to effectively reduce energy consumption. Therefore, this study drew the following conclusions by performing a characteristic experiment by applying temperatures of the heat sources of feed water and conducting other experiments with different types of lake water intakes using the technique to analyze CFD in order to utilize the differences in water temperatures of lake water. 1) Water temperature of dam water remains at approximately 5℃ from the surface to the deeper layers in winter and ranges from a temperature of 30℃ at the surface to 25℃ at the deeper layers during summer. 2) As water temperatures of lake water at the surface reflect air temperatures only after two to three months, and the deeper layers of the lake maintain low temperatures from 4℃ to 7℃ throughout the year, the possibility that they can be used throughout the year was examined. 3) The CFD result demonstrates that the straight type and the curved type at the height of 3 m and 5 m from the bottom of dams predict optimal water-intake conditions of deep waters in lake, which further determines that it is the inlet type rather than the height of intake that is the important variable.
