韓國ㆍ臺灣ㆍ日本의 貿易構造와 工業化 過程의 比較硏究

A Coparative Study on Trade Structure and Process of Industrialization in Korea, Taiwan and Japan

In the process of industrialization, Korea has similar patterns of economic development of Taiwan and Japan, in terms of high degree of economic growth and trade expansion. However, Korea has several different aspects of industrialization from Taiwan and Japan as well. Those are the rapid development which comes with the high inflation in the precess of industrialization, capital system highly dependent on external funds, deficit of trade balance caused by high imports in the process of trade expansion and phenomena of industrial concentration by fastening the heavy and chemical industry. Japanese industrialization had been rapidly performed between late 1955 and 1966. Even though Korea and Taiwan have similar patterns of economic development to the process of Japanese industrialization, Their industrialization have the gap of about 20 years in comparison of process of Japancese industrialization. In comparison of process of industrialization between Taiwan and Korea, because Taiwan invested more in light industry than heavy industry until 1980’s, She produced less in the heavy industry and exported heavy industry products less than Korea. In the process of fastening the heavy industry, Taiwan put their emphasis on the growth of parts industry, whereas Korea emphasized on the assembling industry and this caused Korea to have delayed development on the part industry. thus, while production and exports of Taiwan were performed by small and medium enterprises, Korea was done by large industry and it deepened the industrial concentration. In spite of that condition Korea is in a situation which they have to propel the industrialization expanding the export of heavy industrial commodity and keeping the production system centered the heavy industry.
