A Dynamic Computable General Equilibrium Model

For empirical economic policy analysis, either macro-econometric analysis or micro-analysis is used, but not both of them. We have developed a dynamic general equilibrium model that incorporates both a computable general equilibrium model and a usual macro-econometric model as sub-models. This model will help us understand both the structural effect and the cyclical effect simultaneously. The structural effect is exerted throughout the economy as a whole, as economic policy changes affect relative prices and resource allocation. On the other hand, the cyclical effect is felt through the macro-variables as it affects economic growth, unemployment rate, inflation, and trade balance. Often cyclical and structural effects and not separable as they inhteractively influence each other when they ensue from the same economic policy changes. This fact justifies our effort to combine these two apparently separable empirical methods.
